Theodore Mason Shaw
passed from this world on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, David L. and Lucile Shaw. He is survived by sisters, Barbara Wilt, Seattle, Wash., Beth Walls, Levelland, Texas, Lynn (Joe) Yakubik, San Antonio, Texas; brother, Jon (Jennifer) Shaw, Green; nieces, Angie Wilt, Amanda (William) Heath, Elizabeth Yakubik, Hanna, Matthew and Jonathan Shaw and best friends, Frank Stefan and Walter Molohosky.
Ted was born in Wadsworth, Ohio on Dec. 16, 1960. He was a graduate of Akron Public Schools and The University of Akron with a BA of Geology and BS in Biology. He also earned numerous graduate credits in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. Ted's work life led him through a variety of life experiences including construction, carpentry, cooking, music and gardening. His love of knowledge led him to teach Civil Engineering at the Agricultural Technical Institute at The Ohio State University, Computer Science at Brown Mackey College, and Biology and Medical Terminology at Stark State. Ted was an artist, musician, gardener and avid reader. Ted prided himself in being the only person he knew who "never owned a cell phone". Arrangements by Schlup-Pucak include visitation on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 23 and 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a time of sharing on Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Stark County, 408 Ninth St., SW, Canton, OH 44707.

My husband had the great fortune of having Ted add a teacher for a and p during his freshman year at Stark State in downtown canton. He raved about what a great teacher he was and we were both looking forward to having him for medical terminology. Such a tragic loss. rest in peace.

Wished I could of spent more time with Ted in our adult years. Could of learned alot from him.He meant more tome then he thought. Childhood friends remind you of who you are and where you came from and with each passing of a childhood friend I lost a part of me. I don't think I will ever see a man pass with more honor and courage I will miss you Ted

I still cannot believe that Ted is no longer with us. He was one of the greatest professors that I have ever had and I was privileged to learn from him. He was an an extremely fun professor to talk to and was very knowledgeable. I really looked up to Ted and I was eager to walk into his class every day not only to learn, but also to talk to a very cool and down to earth guy. Now that he is gone, I can only look back on the great times that I had with Ted Shaw, a man that I truly respected and looked up to. RIP Ted and thank you for increasing my knowledge and preparing me for future scholastic endeavors.

I was very sad to hear of Ted's passing. I was also a kid growing up on Brookside. I feel a great deal of sorrow for Barb, Beth,Jon, and Lynn. We sure played a lot of basketball in the Shaw backyard.

To the wonderful Shaw family,
So sorry for your loss. Ted was always very kind to me when I was a kid. I wish I would have ran in to him later in life just to say "hello"

August 22, 2012

I am shocked and deeply sadden to learn of Ted's passing. I enjoyed getting to know Ted as a co-worker at Stark State College. I had some of his Early College medical terminology students in my A&P class. They would light up when his name was mentioned. He cared. Ted made a difference in this world. My sympathy to all his family. You are in my prayers.

I had a lot of fun conversations with
Ted as I worked with him at Stark State. So sad to see you part with us. Last year you asked me to take pictures of the house you grew up in in Wadsworth, so glad I did now. All those at the "White Building" in Canton will miss you.

I was one of Professor Teds Medical Terminology Students. He had a different personality that made him memorable & he shared very interesting stories. One of my favorite professors from the Early College Program. Even though I only knew him a short time- he will be missed by myself and the EC community. R.I.P. Ted.

To the Shaw Family,

Thinking of you at this time. Cherish the memories you had with him - from what I have read - they will make you laugh. I remember Ted as a grade schooler and from FPPC. Rest assured he is now with your mom and dad. God Bless,

I grew up with Ted on brookside. He always had a smile on his face everytime I seen him in our adults years! I remember when him and Frank made a bet to see who could not get their hair cut, and well we know Ted won. I am sorry that he is gone, he will be greatly missed!

He seemed to discover a new interest every month or so, but unlike most people, he'd follow this interest to a good end: a college degree, a fern garden, a garage band, or a job.

Ted was a musician, a botanist, a geologist, a teacher, a statistics guy. He was man of many accomplishments: a renaissance man.
