Tom Huskey Obituary

Tom Huskey
December 25, 1944-
September 21, 2009.
Angels are rejoicing with the 'new arrival' in Heaven of Tom Huskey. Born on Christmas Day, 1944 to beloved parents, Bernie and Florence. He grew up to be a muched loved son, brother to Dick, Jerry and Bob, cousin to JoAnn Heatwole/ Jack Rogers of Port Orange, Florida; father and husband of 44 years to his high school sweetheart, Cheri Trusley Huskey.
Together they raised son, Christopher (Joyce) of West Covina, CA; daughter, Michaelann 'Miki' of the home, Darla of Canton, OH and Craig of Sacramento, CA. He cherished his four grandchildren Hayley, Andrew, Hannah and Benjamin. He continued to ask about the family until the very end.
Tom fought a good fight for two years against his colon cancer. His brother-in-law, Larry Trusley of Newport Beach, CA was right there with him cheering Tom on. I am forever grateful for my brother's support.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours.
The family wishes to thank all those who consoled him in his last days. One of his last sentences was 'I did not know I had so many friends'. We feel confident he knows he was loved.
Thank you to Stark County Hospice.

Cheri & family,
I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Jerry stopped by today and told my husband Ronnie who was out snowblowing the drive. I'm sure he is smiling at us having to shovel the 17" of white stuff.
I have been looking at the obituaries since we came back from vacation but of course I missed this one.
Tom was always one of my favorite people from Fraunfelter and Central. I am so glad I was able to see him at our last reunion. There were so many stories to tell and not enough time.
I know that Tom's passing is Heaven's gain and our loss. I'm also sure he has everyone smiling up there as he did down here.

My heart is with all of you.

Dear Cheri, Chris,Miki, Darla & Craig,

I am so sad and shocked to hear about the loss of Tom...my heart goes out to you all. I was just in Akron 9/25 to 10/4/09 to visit my mother Dorothy Abbott, when my sister told me she had seen Tom's obituary recently. I had been searching for you all online for the past year (California)...myspace, google, facebook, etc. without luck.

I had many fond memories of all of you when you lived next door to us on Roswell and while babysitting the kids when you moved to Goodyear Heights.

My last memory of Tom was when I was about 15 or 16 yrs old and I was at Chapel Hill mall checking out the RV camper show - my friend and I were walking around in a camper and as we got near the rear bedroom somebody yanked hard on my long hair...I turned around and there I found a laughing (jokester) Tom sitting on the camper bed - so typical of jolly 'ol Tom. I really miss you guys.

Please contact me at [email protected] or facebook: babbottperez.

With a sad heart,

Dear Cheri and Family,
I am so thankful that we all were together at the Central High Reunion just about this time last year. Tom was a very dear, kind, outgoing person. So friendly and personable, since I met him at Central in 1962--a friend to everybody. "Tom and Jerry", where you saw one of them, you saw the other. Jerry you are in my prayers constantly, and Cheri, and all the family. Tom Husky was a blessing to everyone he met. I just Thank God for the Memories, and the Class of 1963 Central High School.
May God Bless and Keep All of You in the time of sorrow and loss.
Sincerely,
Because Of The Cross,

Cheri - Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. All the Huskeys were eager for me to play cards on the porch. They would put me in a chair so they could read my cards through the reflection of the sun on my glasses...
I never won.

My sympathies to the family. I worked with Tom at 2 different companies. He was a quick witted and fun person who truly loved his family. He made the best Santa, and I am very glad that my grandchildren got to visit him in that role. He touched many lives and was a very good person. May your good memories comfort you.

I loved to see Tom at all the Central High reunions. He never changed from high school. He was a great guy. My prayers are with the family.

Cheri & Family,
How we will miss our great friend Tom. We will cherish many memories of how witty and fun he was, always with a come-back to anything we might say. Tom was so kind and caring and one could always count on him to lend a helping hand if needed. From the day we first met ,over 35 years ago at the Goodyear Heights Little League, until the present Tom remained a true and lasting friend. Our parties and get togethers will never be the same without him. He made a great Santa even for the adults who sat on his knee. And who could deliver a joke or story better than Tom Huskey. Tom made a difference in this world and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him. We are proud to call him our 'friend'. Sincerely, Pam Cannon & Terry Weathers

Wow - i was looking for a distant relative of my own who recently passed and saw Toms pic and name. I knew of him thru Robin, Rick and Debbie Huskey.

My sympathies goes out to all who loved him and are sadenned by the loss of Tom.

The only memory I have of him is actually a small tale of his good deeds. His resemblance to Santa Claus brought much joy to folks and children for many years as he played him in the Christmas Season.

Again I send my deepest sympathies and condolences to you during your time of mourning but remember to take this time not to only share your sadness but to celebrate the life he lived.

I am so glad Tom was able to come to our Friday Night Get-together in July. Now he is at peace. All of us will forever keep him in our thoughts. My sincere sympathy to you and your family.
