Walter M. Hoffman, age 82, of Massillon, OH, died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Brecksville VA Hospital in Brecksville, after a short illness. He was born on Thursday, February 12, 1925, in Massillon. He was employed by LTV Steel as a sweeper and janitor for 22 years retiring in 1987. He previously worked at the former Griscom Russell Co. for 19 years. Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 9795, Canal Fulton. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and watching NASCAR. Was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by son and daughter-in-
law, Jim and Donna Hoffman of Massillon, Ohio; son, David A. Hoffman of Massillon; daughter, Ruthie Hinkle of North Lawrence, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Ron Zimmerly of Brewster; brother, Gerald C. Hoffman of Canton; sister, Hilda Sibila of Massillon; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by father, George C. Hoffman; mother, Christina (Yando) Hoffman; first wife, Charlene Hoffman (1968); second wife, Jean Hoffman (1994); son, Thomas L. Hoffman (2005); son, Jeffrey G. Hoffman (1995); three brothers; and four sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday, May 18, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Edward Gretchko celebrant. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton, OH. Visitation will be at Heitger Funeral Service-Massillon Chapel on Thursday, May 17, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and Heitger Funeral Service-Massillon Chapel on Friday May 18, 2007 from 9-9:45 a.m. Memorials can be made to St. Mary Church and Memorial Fund, 726 1st St. NE, Massillon, OH 44646.
