William Betz Obituary
87, of Canton, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 in the comfort of his home. He was born in Canton on June 15, 1930 to the late Charles and Helen Betz Sr. and was a 1948 graduate of Timken High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and had a great interest in military knowledge. Bill was employed as a central office repairman with AT&T for 35 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Whipple Ave. Baptist Church, the NRA, Stark County Gun Collectors and The McKinley Rifle and Pistol Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
He leaves his loving wife of 60 years, Hazel Betz; two children, W. Dale Betz of Lincoln, Nebraska and Ruthann (John) Essinger of Birmingham, Alabama; two grandsons, Kenton and Jackson and several loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Whipple Ave. Baptist Church, 191 Whipple Ave. NW with Pastors David Denny and John Moosey officiating. Burial will follow in Warstler Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel and one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in his name, to the Whipple Ave. Baptist Church Missionaries Committee or to the Aultman Hospice Program. Please visit www.reedfuneralhome.com to send condolences.

The loss of this kind and gentle man feels much as the loss of my own father. He let himself be a part of my family and I will miss him forever in that way. May God's hands hold and soothe his wife and children at his passing.
