Jordan Gibbs Obituary

Jordan J. "Joe" Gibbs of Indian Hills passed away on Dec. 19, 2014. He was 73. He died at home of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, lovingly cared for by his wife, Mary, and attended by his children.
Jordan is survived by his wife, Mary Gibbs; children Loni Gaudet, David Gibbs and Kelly "Pat" Adams; and his brother, Lewis Gibbs of San Diego.
Jordan was born in Dorchester, Mass., to Ben and Rose Gibbs (Gibberman). He moved to Culver City, Calif., in 1954 and to Indian Hills in 1981. He was married to Mary Dittman Gibbs on June 17, 1978.
Jordan served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until he was honorably discharged in 1964. He served on the USS Brister DER-327, where he attained the rank of petty officer 3rd class YN3. His specialty was yeoman 3rd class.
After leaving the Navy, Jordan became a skilled and artistic custom wallpaper hanger. He was a hard-working businessman who built a solid and long-lasting company with his son. He was sought after for his work, and customers called for many years after he had retired from his business.
In his "retirement," he worked for Tall Timbers Ranch in Indian Hills, where he manned the front gate. He made many friends there and was surrounded by the outdoors that he loved. He truly enjoyed his time working at Tall Timbers.
Jordan was an avid camper and traveler, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his younger years, he traveled the country with friends on motorcycles. He loved seeing new places and meeting people. He never met a stranger. People remembered him for his sense of humor and his straightforward, honest nature.
During his illness, he received nearly constant phone calls and visits from friends, family and neighbors. He touched lives and will be missed.
The family expresses its gratitude to Mount Evans Hospice, whose staff helped make Jordan's passing peaceful and loving, and who touched all of our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Mount Evans Hospice, 3081 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen, CO 80439.
Jordan will be inurned in a private family funeral at Fort Logan National Cemetery. A celebration of Jordan's life will be held on Jan. 4, 2015, at the family residence in Indian Hills from noon to 4 p.m.

My sincere condolences to the family of Jordan. He, Loni and David lived next door to us in Granada Hills and I babysat the children periodically. We all really liked the entire family and loved having them as our neighbors. I´m am sorry it took all this time to find out of his passing. My sincere thoughts of fond memories I send to the family.
