1950 - 2021

Andrew W. Michel, 71 years of age, departed this life on October 18, 2021, in Lewes, DE. Andrew was born on October 16, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY, to Walter and Helen Michel. Andrew is survived by his beloved wife, Sugar (Jimma); three daughters and their spouses, Cortney McGraw (Greg), Heather Michel Riddle (Jeremy) and Devin Way (Colby) and his precious grandchildren, Kansas, Killian, Elsa and Harlyn. In addition, Andrew is survived by his brother, James Michel, his sisters, Patsy Palumbo, and Kathy Phillips-Page and her husband, Hylton. Andrew was preceded in death by his twin brother, Ricky Michel. Andrew spent time as a young man proudly serving as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. Andrew retired from PSEG (Public Service Enterprise Group) in 2006, after 32 years of service. As a Human Resources Director, his reputation as a master negotiator remains in the memory of all those who worked with him and considered him a mentor, but more importantly, a friend. Former residents of Edgewater, MD, Andrew and Sugar, since 2015, made their home in Dagsboro, DE. Andrew played an active part in their Homeowners Association as vice-president and was well respected for his contribution to improve the neighborhood. Andrew loved his sports! As an avid golfer, Andrew so enjoyed playing with one of his best friends, Gene, and his Jersey guys; his neighbors, Pete, Hank and Dan as well as his brothers-in-law, Bo (Dante) and Fred. As for football, it was always "Go Eagles" and "Bring on the Coors Light"! To say Andrew will be sorely missed is an understatement. Andrew brought much laughter and happiness to those who had the privilege of calling him Husband, Dad (Poppie), Grandpa/Papa, Brother, and Friend. The memories we share will always keep him alive. His wings were ready, but our hearts were not! A private memorial celebration will be announced at a future date.
