Earl Christian Obituary

Earl Spry Christian, 56, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on September 13, 2025, surrounded by close friends. Born on April 28, 1969, he was the son of the late Earl S. Christian and the late Rosemary L. Yekel Christian Horwitz. Earl graduated from Chesapeake High School Class of 1987, went on to earn a BA degree from Loyola University. He worked as a CPA and was always willing to help friends with their taxes. Earl spent years living in Seoul Korea teaching English as away to pursue a love interest whom he would later marry, although they parted ways, Earl has always deeply loved. A passionate sports fan, Earl loved the Baltimore Ravens and could often be found at games or watching alongside friends. He was an athlete himself, spending much of his youth playing football, baseball, basketball, and even lacrosse. He also held a lifelong love for the Chesapeake Bay, where he grew up swimming, fishing, crabbing, the Rock view beach area of Pasadena in search of soft crabs. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his sisters, Lee Ann Abend and Cherie Gfeller; his stepfather, Robert Horwitz; and his niece, Allyse O'Donnell. He is survived by his sisters Maurie Buckingham, Leslie Harris, and Sara Horwitz; his brothers Sidney Horwitz and Matthew Horwitz; brothers-in-law Marc Gfeller, Philip Harris, and Michael Abend; his Uncle Charles Christian and wife Dorothy; his Aunt Ruth Yekel; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. A private celebration will be held for family and friends. Arrangements by Simplicity Cremation & Funeral Services, Glen Burnie, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations in Earl's memory to a local children's sports club or team.
