Earl Walter Obituary



On November 16, 2016, Earl Gilbert Walter, 89, of Severna Park, passed away at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Earl was born on January 1, 1927, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Margaret and Martin Walter. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Seaman Second Class. Earl then went on to work for Carrollton Bank and then the Bank of Glen Burnie for 39 years, earning the title of Executive Vice President. He was a member of the Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, American Institute of Banking, and the MD Bankers Association. Earl enjoyed walking the B&A Trail, bowling, golfing, and playing Scrabble. Earl is survived by his devoted wife Joanne L. Walter; his beloved children, Nancy (Rick) Walter, David (Alex) Walter, Susan (Joe) Calianno, Mark (Betsy) Walter, Michael (Erin) Walter, and Denise (Bart) Gibson; his loving grandchildren, Matthew Szostek, Jonathan Szostek, Daniel Calianno, Amanda (Ryan) Doggett, Michelle (Kendall) Hammack, Christopher Calianno, Laura Beth Walter, Olivia Walter, Isabella Walter, Cole Gibson, Grant Gibson, and Alexis Gibson; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Kylie, Ryan Jr., Jacob, Jayla, Kendall J. (KJ), and Autumn. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 29th, at 10:45 AM, at MD Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in Earl's name may be made to The American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
