He was a veteran of WWII serving on the Battleship Arkansas, Battleship USS Hannibal, Attack Transport USS Florence Nightingale, and Minesweeper YMS 54. In Vietnam he was an officer in an MSC ship, and was licensed Master, Oceans, Unlimited. He contributed to the restoration of many significant historic buildings, both in Annapolis with colleague James.W. Burch, and in Newport. An intrepid world traveler, Gino had a special place in his heart for his ancestral home of Ireland. He loved to lock horns in a good political debate. Sailing and body surfing were his passions even into his 90's. Gino possessed a charm not often seen in the modern world and his wit, humor and insight will be missed. I had the rare honor and privilege to spend the last three years of Gino's life with him. He enjoyed looking out at the Severn River from the back porch at Manresa. I would spend many Saturdays talking with a man that can only be described as a genius with a colorful character. We would talk about his Navy career and other adventures such as climbing the Matterhorn. He will be sorely missed by all his family and dear friends. Rest in Peace Zio Gino.

Gino entered my life over 45 years ago, extending his hand in friendship. He was a powerful force of strong opinions and much kindness. He was the smartest man I have ever known. Gino was that rare human being who shared his knowledge of literature, art, history, politics, travel and exploration without making me feel unaware, and he rallied support of my going to college as a "mature student", --oftentimes sharing my enthusiasm of Yates, Shakespeare, the Bronte sisters, Dickens... Gino delighted in my trips to Ireland and Italy and many serious [and fun] conversations ensued as we shared our experiences of traveling abroad. Gino was always interested in his fellow human being. He had that thirst to connect with the world and its offerings. Gino's kindness was abundant. He oftentimes treated my two young daughters, Amy and Holly, with wrapped [always gift wrapped] presents, that to this day hold a special place in their box of treasures. Gino was generous of his time and talents, always sending post cards and letters from home and abroad...they are my treasures. It hurts to lose such a wonderful friend and fine human being. Gino occupies a special place in my heart and in this world. May he join the angels and rest in peace.

Lieutenant Eugene McNulty joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and is a veteran of WW2 serving on the Battleship Arkansas (BB 33), Attack Transport USS Florence Nightengale, and Minesweeper YMS 54. He held a U.S. Coast Guard license of Master of Seagoing vessels of Any Ocean / Any Tonnage while sailing with the Military Sea Lift Command after the war. Living most of his life in Newport, Rhode Island and Annapolis, Maryland he also was a licensed Architect, designing and rebuilding many structures. As a graduate of Princeton University, he achieved numerous degrees while attending. "Gino" attained his nickname from a longshoreman while working aboard a cargo ship. Always ready with a good sea story, he would enjoy locking horns with a good political debate. Sailing and body surfing was his passion even into his 90's. He will always be remembered by friends and family. Nephew / Greg Turner
