Francesco LaTorre Obituary

Francesco "Frank" LaTorre, a 39-year resident of Bowie, died May 11. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1937, Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1966. As a technical writer for NASA he worked on the Apollo 11 space mission. In 1969 he began working for the television network CBS, where he continued to work for 41 years. During his tenure at CBS he enjoyed traveling with presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. Bush, and Bill Clinton. He retired in 2010. He continued with his broadcasting by volunteering at Bowie Public Television. Frank enjoyed model railroading and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Rita B. LaTorre; two sons, Mark LaTorre and his wife Lesli of Chester and Jonathan LaTorre and his wife Cindy of Davidsonville; and seven grandchildren, Brittany, Kelsey, Amanda, Cassandra, Marissa, Cody and Jennie. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, May 16,at Beall Funeral Home. Interment followed at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.
