Jack Dorsey Obituary

Jack Thurston Dorsey Jr., 52, of Seaford, Del., died Aug. 11 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.

He was born Aug. 25, 1956, at Anne Arundel General Hospital. He was raised in Owings,
attended Tracey's Elementary and graduated from Southern High School in Harwood, class of 1974.

He was employed as a land surveyor with Wilkerson and Associates surveying and engineering company for several years after high school. He then attended and graduated from the Anne Arundel County Fireman's Academy in Millersville, and worked as a paramedic for 10 years and as a firefighter for 3 years. He retired from fire service due to a job-related injury, and returned to his surveying career, working for several engineering firms, the last 3 years in Seaford.

Jack enjoyed watching football and playing golf, but his passion was his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his former wife, Barbara Smith.

He is survived by his son, Jack T. "Jay" Dorsey III of North East, Md.; parents, Marie E. and Jack T. Dorsey Sr. of Owings; his brother, Dennis M. Dorsey of Owings; two nephews and a niece; and many family and friends in Maryland and Delaware.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14 at Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane in Owings. Funeral services and a celebration of Jack's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship United Methodist Church, 22 W. Friendship Road in Friendship. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy in Jack's name may be made to one's charity of choice.
