Jaime MacDonell Obituary

Jaime Buckley MacDonell passed away at home in Apex N.C. on April 30, 2024, after her courageous battle with a recurring illness. Jaime grew up in Annapolis Maryland alongside her loving sister Jennifer Gassen. She attended Broadneck H.S. where she excelled in numerous leadership positions and earned awards including the President's Education Award, National Honor Society, and All County Varsity Lacrosse. Graduating with honors from University of Richmond (2004) she pursued her MBA at George Washington University (2011). She engaged in top positions at Avalara and recently in management at Zendesk. Jaime is survived by her husband John and sons, Hayes (10) and Connor (7). The boys were the joy and light of her life. She cherished cheering them on at their sporting events. Jaime is also survived by her parents Robert and Linda Buckley (Annapolis), sister Jennifer Gassen (Scott) numerous aunts and uncles, 8 nieces and nephews plus many cousins. Jaime loved the beach and the ocean as well as the Severn River. Traveling was her passion, and she was enthusiastic about visiting new places. When time permitted, reading, walking and puzzling were her favorite pastimes. Always having time for friends and family, her positive outlook and passion for life were contagious. Jaime's network of close friends reached out to her with amazing presence during her illness. It is with deep gratitude we thank caregivers, Sia Isata Babatuday, Tina MacDonell, family and countless friends for being by her side as she fought with grace and love.
