Joseph Cunnane Obituary

November 9, 1948 – January 14, 2025   Joseph Francis Cunnane III, 76, of Gainesville, Fl, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children. Born in Norristown, PA, and raised in King of Prussia, he was the eldest of five siblings. Joe is survived by his devoted brothers, Albert "Bud" Cunnane, Michael Cunnane (Susan), and John Cunnane (Carolyn) Cunnane, and his beloved sister, Debbie Garo (Lucien).   Joe graduated from Upper Merion High School and served proudly in ROTC and the Army Reserves. He brought his tireless work ethic into the restaurant world-from managing Rustler Steak Houses to holding various executive roles at DavCo (a Wendy's franchise). During his adult years in Annapolis, MD, Joe was known for cooking up great meals and could light up a room with his smile. He captivated everyone around him with lively conversation and had a heart of gold.   Best known as "Joe Crane", he was a true sports fanatic (rooting for the Ravens, Eagles, Terps, Gators, and Nittany Lions). He found joy in dancing at piano bars, belting out Elton John classics, and golfing any chance he got!   He is preceded in death by his parents, Doris Rita Cunnane (Millhouse) and Joseph Francis Cunnane Jr., as well as his youngest son, Joseph Francis Cunnane IV (Joey). He leaves behind his wife, Mary Beth Cunnane; daughters Kim Oros, Betsy Johnson (Alonzo), Courtney Melanson (Brent), Shannon McSkimming (Andrew); sons Timothy Cunnane (Beth), Shawn Cunnane (Sarah), and stepchildren Courtney (Scott), Emily (Brett) and Rebecca as well as countless grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. There will be a Celebration of Life service from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 15th, 2025, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, located at 7118 W. University Ave., Gainesville, FL.  There will be another Celebration of Life service on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, in Philadelphia, PA.  As plans are finalized, specific details will be shared with family and friends.

I loved working with Joe -- he was a force of nature with a great sense of humor! His family was everything to him. He was so proud of his children and loved being a grandfather. He was also protective of his work family, especially the people who worked in the restaurants.

I hope he is happily reunited with his parents and Joey. My condolences to Joe's family and everyone who loved him.

I spent three amazing years with him. He was a happy spirited great man. I will miss him so much. My daughter Meghan really loved him also. He´s now with all the greats in sports history . He is probably bending their ears as we speak. Gods blessings upon him and his amazing family. Heartfelt love, Melanie
