Marc Brassard Obituary

Dr. Marc F. Brassard, 62, passed away on September 1, 2025. Marc was born to Roseabell (nee Racine) and Joseph (Gene) Brassard, Jr. on October 5, 1962 in Holyoke, MA. He was raised in Chicopee, MA with his five siblings and made many lifelong friends there. Marc graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School before attending Springfield College graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1984 and Master of Science in 1988. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed his residency in Orthopedics at the University of Alabama Birmingham. Marc continued his training with a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Total Joint Replacement in NYC, at the Insall-Scott-Kelley Institute at Beth Israel Medical Center. He had the unique opportunity to work with the NY Knicks and WNBA Liberty. Marc spent his entire professional career at Anne Arundel Medical Center with Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center beginning in 1999, specializing in knee and hip replacements. He made meaningful friendships with all of his partners and adored his operating team and joint floor team. One of his greatest passions was caring for his patients. He served the hospital in many capacities during his tenure, including the Medical Executive Committee and as Chief of Orthopedics. Marc also served the community in various volunteer positions. Most dear to him was as the Broadneck HS football team doctor since 2006, alongside one of his best friends. He was also an advisor assisting in the formation of Future Doctors of America in 2012 which ultimately became "Future of Human Health and Medical Organization." Prior to this, he served on the local Arthritis Foundation for many years. His volunteer work allowed him to share his love for the community through medicine. Marc would like to be remembered as a true competitor. He was passionate about cycling and was known to zoom around the neighborhood on his daily bike ride. One of his most rewarding accomplishments was completion of the Race Across America (RAAM) in 2014. Marc was part of a local team of cyclists and support team racing from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD. His team included many neighbors and his brother. Marc was an avid sports fan of all levels. He cherished his time coaching and watching his children compete in everything from basketball, swimming, lacrosse and dance. He loved Boston based sports teams, Notre Dame football, Navy and Broadneck HS sports of any kind. Marc was a social butterfly, he seemed to know people everywhere. He stayed connected with people from all chapters of life: his childhood best friends and neighbors, mentors from all levels of education, parents and kids from all sports teams and activities, and what felt like the entirety of the local community – especially AAMC. Marc is survived by his loving wife, Melissa; beloved daughters, Kylie, Delaney and Brianna and husband Michael; and grandson Connor; Four brothers Ronald, Michael, Douglas, and Kevin and sister Darlene (Cortis); many nieces and nephews, grand nephews and nieces, and his two furbabies and koi fish. Please remember him and his smile. A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 1-4pm at Barranco Severna Park, Funeral Home & Cremation Care, P.A. 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146, feel free to wear blue in his honor. My condolences to the family of Dr. B...
Dang Dr. B....
I Just saw you in the office with that vivacious smile and even got to see you blush as you humbly brushed off the compliment you´d received. You looked amazing and I remember thinking and saying... You gave me life back with Bubba (my new knee name). I knew when I first met you that I´d be taken care of and gosh darn it... You did just that, took care of me. Bubba and I will forever have you to thank. I see it took you a little to approve the new hip design I´ve received. You know You and I had that Hip date, right? But I see and understand you had other plans. I´m not sure what it looks like yet, but I´m sure you approved because you were there in spirit. It was you playing with that IV line, you wanted to be sure to guide the way. Now I get it. I see you! Until we cross paths again. Thank You, God for blessing us with Dr. B and thank you family for sharing him with us.

Melissa and girls. My heart is absolutely breaking with you and for you. While no words can ease the pain, I hope you find comfort in the memories that live on - the laughter, the love, and the moments shared. May they wrap around your heart like a gentle embrace, reminding you that those we love never truly leave us. Marc leaves behind a true legacy of humility and respect and someone shared with me today that when he rounded on his patients , he would insist other care providers attend to patient first and is remembered saying to them that your time is as valuable as mine !! Hugs and Love

Dear Melissa, What an absolute loss of your partner in life! I cannot even imagine the grief. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family through this difficult time. I have wanted to reach out sooner...
Mark was always special to me in the practice.. He treated me as an equal and I always valued his advice.
You both were very kind to open your home to the members of our practice back in the day when we were close and a cohesive group..
His patients loved him...and what more could any Doctor ask for.He was there to serve his patients...and what more could there be.
I will hold him in my heart dearly and pray to God for you and your families peace as you all move forward,.. It will be difficult. But God will give you all strength to move forward.
The pain lessens over YEARS....but I can honestly say it WILL lessen..I know through experience after losing my youngest son.
Remember all the good times and revisit pictures often.
Tim and I will be praying for peace in your hearts.
Our sincere condolences,
Tim and Denise Hoffman

I am so sad to hear this. Marc and I met in middle school and shared a love for sports .He was a great classmate, team mate and friend. Marc was someone who always gave 110% to whatever he set his mind to. Even when you lose touch with time it still hurts to hear this. Rest in peace Marc!
