Mike Perrine Obituary

June 22, 1941 Michael Wilson ("Mike") Perrine, 83, passed away on April 4, after a merciful and very brief battle with late-stage cancer. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Mike attended Miami Edison High School, spent six years in the United States Navy where he made rank as an E5 Cryptologic Technician (CT), received a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, then spent 33 years with State Farm Insurance Companies where he excelled in life insurance and annuity sales and qualified for the annual payoff trip almost every year. Mike is survived by 12-year love and companion, Turid Emmerich of Centreville, MD; brother Ken Perrine (Nancy) of Aiken, SC; children Steve Perrine (Suzanne) of Albany, GA and Shelley Perrine Driscoll of Edgewater, MD; grandchildren Michael Perrine of Austin, TX, Sarah Perrine Ball (Austin) of Atlanta, GA and Donovan Driscoll, a senior at South River High School; former spouse and lifelong friend, Frances Perrine of Gambrills, MD. Mike was predeceased by his parents, George and Carolyn Perrine of Avon Park, FL and his brother George Perrine, Jr. of Irvine, CA. Affectionately known as "Pops," Mike would always tell the funniest jokes and had an encyclopedia full of them. Holidays and family gatherings will be remembered for all the laughs and the memories of Pops getting up from his chair and acting out the characters in his jokes. Mike was also a talented writer and artist, particularly adept with pencil and watercolor. He loved his family and friends, high school sports in which his grandchildren were participating, his golden retriever, Brandy, bass fishing in the lakes of south-central Florida, his Harley Davidsons, golf with brother George, Chartwell Country Club, the Green Bay Packers, Duke basketball, Navy football, Restaurante Tio Pepe and their sangria, and ice-cold Heineken! Mike will be honored later in the year with a military memorial service at Arlington National Cemetery. In consideration of the true blessing provided by hospice care, the family asks that you prayerfully consider a tax-deductible donation to: CompassRegionalHospice.org in Centreville, MD.

I was a friend and business associate with Mike for over 30 years, and we shared office space for 5. I´ll always remember Mike for his sense of humor.

My deepest condolences to the Perrine family. Big Mike was a good man who was always generous with golf, humor or dinner at Tio Pepe´s. May he rest in peace.
