Norman Greenwell Obituary

Norman "Mike" Reverdy Greenwell, lovingly known as "Pop" or "Bubba", age 90, a 65-year resident of Davidsonville and previously of Annapolis, passed away on June 6, 2025 at his home. Born on June 23, 1934 in Greenock, MD (now known as Lothian) to the late Norman Edward and Eva Lucille Greenwell, Mike graduated from Owensville Elementary and from Southern High School in 1954. Mike grew up working on his family farm, then with Chaney's Construction and Sealtest Ice Cream before establishing his lifelong career with M & E Refrigeration, from 1959 until his retirement in the early 2020s. He also served his country with honor as a member of the US Army from 1956 to 1962, where he was a SP4. Mike was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, and a member of Three Rivers Sportsmen Club, the Severna Park Elks Club #2482 and the NRA. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and trap shooting, fishing, tractor pulls, fast-pitch softball, cutting grass, and gardening. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his son, Norman Michael Greenwell, Sr. and his sisters, Frances Darnell Lowman and Doris Lucille Marshall. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Martha Eugenia "Genie" Greenwell; his son, Joel Calvert Greenwell, Sr. (Emily) of Harwood; his brother, Douglas Ray Greenwell, Sr. (Mary) of Davidsonville; his grandsons, Joel Calvert Greenwell, Jr. (Ashley) of Lothian and Norman Michael Greenwell, Jr. (Yina) of Timonium; his granddaughters, Cortney Amber Allen (Tim) of Westampton, NJ, Caitlyn Cynthia Greenwell (Billy) of West River, and Candyce Susanna Godlewski (Mac) of Harwood; and his four great-grandchildren, Riley Allen, Joel Greenwell III, Luke Greenwell, and Lyric Allen. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Mike's life on Monday, June 16 from 3 to 7 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, June 17 at 11 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River, MD. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
