Peter Schon Obituary

Peter Curtis Schon, 84, died peacefully on April 10, 2021, in the company of his wife and daughters. Peter was born on June 7, 1936, in Wellesley, MA. He graduated in 1954 from Maine Township High School in Park Ridge, IL, and was enrolled in the NROTC program at Purdue University. In 1955, he received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, graduated in June of 1959, and was commissioned in the Marine Corps. He then attended the Platoon Leaders Course in Quantico, VA and became the XO of the Marine Detachment aboard the USS Randolph in Norfolk, VA. He left active duty in 1964 to join his family's printing business in Chicago. He continued to work in the graphic arts industry for most of his professional career, employed as a Sales Manager for several commercial printers in the Midwest and East Coast Regions, and as an independent consultant to members of the Printing Industries of America trade association for over 20 years. Following retirement, he lived out his days in Baltimore, MD. Peter is survived by his beloved wife Juliana; two daughters Erica Pollak and Kirsten Shorey, and their spouses; three grandsons Carleton, Cameron, and Jason; and a special granddaughter Isabella. He was predeceased by his parents Hilda Jean Duffet and Bert Eric Schon, and his brother, David Emerson Schon. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Mount Calvary Church, 816 N. Eutaw Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 10:30am. Peter will be inurned at the Naval Academy Columbarium at a later date.
