Robert Borrelli Obituary
On March 16, 2016, Robert Borrelli, age 81, of Annapolis, MD passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Rochester, N.Y. and was the son of Eva and Frank Borrelli. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1958. Recruited by Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, Columbia, MD, he devoted his entire career to military defense technologies until his retirement in 2001. He was a self taught sailor and sailed the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. He also enjoyed sailing on Rangeley Lake in NW Maine. Piloting his private plane was another hobby he enjoyed. In addition to his parents and sister, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jody Borrelli. He leaves behind a devoted wife of 61 years, Joan (Kessler) Borrelli, six children; Doreen (Kevin) Sinnett, Brenda (Brian) Sinnett, Laura (Frank) Seabeck, Amy Borrelli, Glenn (Nilam) Borrelli, Eric Borrelli, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was a devout Catholic and Parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church for 45 years. Funeral arrangements are private. In lieu of flowers, a gift in Robert Borrelli's name may be made to Seasons Hospice, 6934 Aviation Blvd. Suite N-R, Glen Burnie, MD 21061.

I enjoyed working at APL with Bob for 40 years. He was a true gentleman and a pleasure to be around. We shared several interests, including flying airplanes and sailing the Chesapeake.

When I think of Bob, I always think of his delightful smile and the twinkle in his eye. He always seemed to me to be ever the gentleman, thoughtful and attentive to others -- and ready to help. Whenever I think of him, I smile -- reacting still to the warmth of his presence. I will certainly miss visiting with him.
