Robert Schrott Obituary

Robert Charles Schrott III, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2019. He was born on August 28, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Robert Charles Jr. and Catherine (O'Connor) Schrott and brother of Richard Schrott. He grew up in Pittsburgh, graduating from the Univ. of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Geography in 1962. He is predeased by his wife Rose Ann Elizabeth (Couts). They were married in 1963 and moved to Maryland. They purchased their first home in Bowie and lived there until their deaths. Bob was a loving and devoted father to his three children: Lisa M. Schrott of Hilton Head Island, SC (Brian McWilliams), Robert R. Schrott of Greenfield, MA (William Bullock) and Timothy M. Schrott of Bowie, MD. Bob spent a 34-year career as a photo interpreter with the Central Intelligence Agency's National Photographic Interpretation Center. Following his retirement, he served as a consultant for Verizon and General Dynamics. Bob never met a stranger, sharing a smile and extending a hand to all he met. He served as a Deacon at Christian Community Presbyterian Church (CCPC) and on the Board of Directors of the Bowie Therapeutic Nursery. For over 25 years he delivered the Time for Children once a month at CCPC, and the highlight of his year was leading the children in singing Happy Birthday to Jesus on Christmas Eve. Bob loved to travel, having explored much of the US and Europe and traveling across Russia and China by train. Bob will be missed by all who appreciated his love of puns, generous spirit and ready smile. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, February 9 at Christian Community Presbyterian Church, 3120 Belair Drive, Bowie, MD. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Community Presbyterian Church.
