Ruth S. Grimes

Ruth S. Grimes of Severna Park passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on December 4, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was predeceased by her husband Colonel D.B. Grimes USA (ret) and also her brother Carl Swanson and her sister Dorothy Bennett. She is survived by her son Daniel (Kathleen), her daughter Suzanne and three grandchildren, Aaron, Evan and Brandan. Early in her life she moved the family around the country and the overseas following her husband's duty assignments, she enjoyed the opportunity to travel and see the world. After moving to Severna Park she became involved in Real Estate and remained active for many years, including time as President of the Anne Arundel County Board of Realtors. In her retirement she enjoyed fishing on her brothers boat and travelling and visiting with friends and family. Ruth was a devoted caring, supportive and loving wife, mother and friend. Family and friends may gather on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 12pm to 1pm at the Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Hwy. A memorial ceremony will be held in the funeral home chapel immediately following the visitation. Interment will be held privately at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake or your favorite local charity.
