Walter Roman Bernadzikowski

Walter, born October 22, 1938 in Baltimore, son of the late Walter A. Bernadzikowski (d. 1988) & Cecilia Clara (Slowikowski) Bernadzikowski (d. 1975), passed in his sleep on May 12, 2021 at Normandie Ridge retirement community in York, PA. He was 82. He is survived by his wife, Donna (Passmore); sons Timothy (husband Patrick) of Laurel, MD; Raymond (wife Belinda) of York, PA; Harold, of Eldersburg, MD; and Francis of Elkridge, MD; and grandchildren Clara, Grace, Hope, Lance, Kevin, Maddie, Samantha, and Parker. He is also survived by a sister, Joan Shutt, of Colora, MD; nephews Chris Bucey and Bruce A. Bernadzikowski; nieces Melissa Johnson and Karen Benser; many great-nephews and great-nieces; and many cousins including Gerry Kurek and Dorothy Lebrun. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heidi Bernadzikowski (2000), a brother Francis Bernadzikowski (1978), and sisters Clara Bernice Snyder (2001) and Rosalie Bucey (2020). Mt. St. Joseph HS ('56), US Air Force 1957-1960, BSBA (business) Loyola College '75. He was a technical writer with RCA and Westinghouse/ Northrop Grumman 1962-2003. He was an avid bowler and golfer. One of the things he was most proud of was his time serving the Knights of Columbus council # 2577 in Bowie, MD, where he earned the 4th Degree, and held the post of Grand Knight in 1993-1994. In retirement he became an avid bridge player. They lived in Bowie, Severna Park, Shrewsbury, PA, Milford, DE, and York, PA. They were long-time parishioners at St. John the Evangelist in Severna Park, and Our Lady of The Fields in Millersville prior to leaving Maryland. Visitation for family and friends at Hardesty Funeral Home 851 Annapolis Rd., Gambrills, MD 21054, Tue June 1: 2-4 pm, 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Fields, 1070 Cecil Ave, Millersville, MD 21108, Wed June 2, 11 am, interment at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to CBN-Christian Broadcasting Network, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Shiners Hospitals for Children.
