Donald Schnapp Obituary

Pawnee - Donald "Don" Gene Schnapp, 69, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at his home in Pawnee. Don was born July 18, 1956, in Springfield, the son of Richard L. and Betty J. Matthew Schnapp. Don was preceded in death by his mother, Betty, in May 2025; his father, Richard; and his aunt, Marjorie Jones. Don graduated from Pawnee High School in 1974 and was a member of the Pawnee United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked for the Illinois Air National Guard for more than 30 years, retiring in 2008 as a crew chief and expeditor. Don loved riding his motorcycle - taking long trips to Arizona, Florida and Niagara Falls, and going target shooting. He is survived by one son, Trevor G. Schnapp, of Springfield; one daughter, Haley D. Schnapp, of Pawnee; two grandchildren, Makhiya and Malakhi; one brother, David L. (wife, Bonnie) Schnapp, of Yuma, Arizona; and two nieces. Don's family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at Pawnee United Methodist Church in Pawnee, with Rev. Randy Sharp and Rev. Chuck Kurfman officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee, with the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County conducting military honors. Memorials honoring Don may be made to the Pawnee Food Pantry, P.O. Box 304, Pawnee, IL 62558. Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee is serving the family of Don Schnapp. Online condolences may be expressed at www.curryfh.com.
