Earl D Cumberworth

Earl D. Cumberworth, 73, of Springfield, IL passed away peacefully at home on Sunday January 26, 2025 while in the company of his loving family. Earl was born in Springfield on August 28, 1951 the son of Roy and Dorothy (Womack) Cumberworth. He married the love of his life, Peggy Ann Little on June 19, 1971.
Earl retired from Aramark in 2016 after working as a delivery driver for 34 years. He worked hard and we can count on one hand how many days he missed throughout his career.
Above all, Earl cherished his family. He loved being a husband, a dad and a Papa. Earl was also known for his sense of humor. He teased his family for years that he was headed to the rainbow bridge to meet his deceased dogs, Taffy and Bailey, long before it was time for him to depart this life. We have no doubt they were waiting for him when he arrived. Even in his last weeks, he still made us laugh to let us know even though his body and mind were tired, he was still there. Earl loved watching Illini basketball, but was not happy when they lost. His happy place was Pensacola, Florida, the home of many family vacations.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and step parents; sister, and his step sister.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; daughter, Jamie (Michael Brian) Sisti; son, Corey Cumberworth; grandchildren, Camren (Jacqueline Chaidez) Sisti, Jade (Michael Feagans) Sisti, and Lucas Sisti; five great grandchildren; brother, Tim (Nora) Cumberworth; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation services are being rendered for Earl. A Celebration of life will be held Saturday February 1st from 11:00am- 3:00pm at Paul's Paradise and Tree Farm, 12430 Il-125 Pleasant Plains, Il. Services will be held at 3:00 with Chaplain Brad Harris officiating. Friends and family are encouraged to wear Illini gear or blue and orange for Earl's love for Fighting Illini Basketball.
Donations can be made to the Center for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders at SIU Medicine in Earl's name.
