James Farley Obituary

Pawnee - James Charles Farley, 84, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield as the result of an automobile accident in Pawnee. Jim was born Dec. 8, 1940, in Springfield, the son of James O. and Marguerite I. Thoburn Farley. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Rosemary Anderson and Katherine Egan; and one brother, David Lee Farley. Jim attended Bunn Grade School and graduated from Lanphier High School in 1958, where he was the co-valedictorian. Jim was in a U.S. Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps unit and graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in the Vietnam War and earned the rank of captain. James was a vice president at the Central Illinois Public Service Co. (now Ameren) and sold Native American jewelry. James is survived by one brother, Wayne S. Farley, of Brazil, and three nephews. No services are scheduled at this time.
