November 9, 1960 - May 11, 2025
The funeral service for Marilou Hieb, 64, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2025, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Jacob Smith officiating.
Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Marilou died Sunday, May 11, 2025, at home in Sioux Falls, SD.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street, with Pastor Ryan Drevlow officiating.
Marilou Hieb was born to Fred and Anna (Obenauer) Hieb on November 9, 1960, in Eureka, SD. She lived with her family on various farms in McPherson County. In 1969 her family moved to Aberdeen, SD.
Marilou attended school in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1979. After graduating, she worked various jobs until she began a career at Walmart in 1991 at the Aberdeen location. She retired after 29 1/2 years. After retiring from Walmart, she moved to Sioux Falls, SD to be closer to family.
Marilou loved to sew, craft, and scrapbook, and was very creative and made handmade gifts for family and friends for all occasions. She loved to garden and can her garden goods, enjoyed taking pictures and getting creative with editing them. Above all Marilou enjoyed being with family and friends and attending family get togethers. She also enjoyed getting to play the "Grandma" role. She cherished being actively involved in and attending many of their athletic, school, church and other events.
Faith was very important to Marilou. She was a member of the St. Paul's Church in Aberdeen, SD before moving to Sioux Falls, SD, where she became a member at Our Redeemer Lutheran.
Grateful for having shared Marilou's life are sibling, Marianne Hieb of Sioux Falls, SD; nephew, Eric (Sarah) Serbousek; and great niece, Karlie Serbousek all of Pierre, SD; special friend Mike Hottman of Maurice, IA; Mikes daughter, Candi (Justin) Vink and their three children: Brooklyn, Leevi, and Bennett, all of Rock Valley, IA.
Preceding Marilou in death are her parents, Fred and Anna Hieb; one infant brother, Milo; great nephew, Joseph Serbousek; and brother-in-law, Chuck Serbousek.
