Bernice Nadine Eskew was born on December 24, 1933, to Jasper and Edna Eskew at their home near Lake Valley, Oklahoma. She attended Lake Valley High School. On November 23, 1950, Nadine married Leon Haskins, and they were blessed with three children, Patty, Rex, and Leonda.
As their family grew, Nadine partnered with Leon in their life together. She found great joy in her nearly 74 year marriage to Leon and turned their houses into homes that pointed their family, friends, and neighbors to the love of Christ. Nadine had the gift of hospitality and quickly made strangers feel like family.
In 1968, Nadine and Leon moved their family from Oklahoma to a farm in Sully County, SD. Nadine supported the growth of their farming operation by hosting and feeding employees, doing bookkeeping and payroll, and supplying prayer and wisdom in difficult decisions.
Nadine cared for her church, friends, and community. She was a member of Community Bible Church and joyfully served her church family. She was a faithful friend who enjoyed encouraging others and attending her weekly coffee and Bible study groups. Nadine also participated in the South Dakota Wheathearts, an organization that promoted the wheat production industry.
Nadine had a deep love for Jesus, and spending time with Him through Bible study and prayer was a part of her daily routine. She knew that one day she would be absent from her body and home with her Lord. Nadine longed for that day. Now, by God's grace, she is home with her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Nadine is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Michael) Ogan; son, Rex (LeAnn) Haskins; and son-in-law, Terry Beastrom, all of Pierre; her grandchildren, Colin (Sara) Ogan, Krista (Douglas) Stevens, Justin (Roseanna) Ogan, Jesse (Sarena) Beastrom, Derrick Haskins, and Lindsey (TJ) Philips; nine great grandchildren, Ethan Ogan, Nyah Ogan, Corbin Beastrom, Cooper Beastrom, Maddox Ogan, Stella Beastrom, Kady Ogan, Kuyper Philips, and Brooklyn Philips; sisters, Charline Schantz and Verla Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Leon Haskins; her daughter, Leonda Beastrom; her parents; her twin-sister, Florine Bolinger; her mother and father-in-law; as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law.
