Dwight McCarty Obituary

Dwight Errol McCarty, aged 84, of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico, passed from this life on the 19th of March 2024. Born on the 25th of August 1939, in Cross Timbers, Missouri, he was a serial entrepreneur and proud veteran with a love for the outdoors and his family, past and present.

Dwight obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Missouri State University after his formative years at Cross Timbers High School and his time as a child in Hickory County, Missouri.

Dwight served his nation with honor as a B52 tail gunner in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, and subsequently as a member of the Montana Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Sergeant Major after a distinguished 20-year military career.

In the realm of commerce, Dwight was a respected entrepreneur, co-founding three retail clothing establishments, including The Village Shoppe, which is still thriving under the leadership of his daughter. His later years were dedicated to mentoring fellow retailers in the art of business succession.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in his son, Leroy McCarty; daughter-in-law, Stacie McCarty; grandchildren, Austin and Jenna McCarty; daughter, Elizabeth Steen and her partner Darnell Hanenberg; grandchildren, Leyton Steen and Bode Brown; daughters-in-law, Alev Clarke and her husband Michael Clarke and Kresta House; son-in-law, Kevin Anderson; granddaughters-in-law, Meghan and Karissa; his beloved wife, Victoria Solis Nogueda McCarty and her son Ismael; his former spouses, Margaret McCarty and Sevim Lee; his half-siblings, Connie Fischer and Karl Fischer; and an extended family of kin and kindred spirits.

Preceding him in death were his mother, Irene Ragsdale; his father, Thomas McCarty; his grandparents, Marion and Carrie McCarty, James Gray, and Edyth Duncan; his adoptive grandparents, Weyet and Ila Duncan; and his former spouses, Beverly McCarty and Yolanda Serna.

In keeping with Dwight's explicit wishes, there will be no formal service. His earthly remains will be partially committed to Mexico's Pacific Coast and partially interred in the Cross Timbers, Missouri, cemetery, rejoining his forebears in eternal rest.

Dwight's life was a rich tapestry of service, family, and enterprise. His memory will be cherished, and his presence sorely missed by all who knew him.

My first memory with grandboppy was a family reunion trip when I was very young! The house we were in had some animals and I remember someone had left the door open (the dogs were about to run out of
the house) and then I heard grandboppy yell at the top of his lungs "DOOR" and still to this day I giggle every time I think about it. I also have found memories of our lake trips with the family!
Grandboppy will be missed greatly.
