You were truly a great man, John. I was so proud to know you and was sad to hear of your passing. You positively impacted the lives of so many people around you, including mine, much more than you probably realized. While I didn't see you all that often after moving away from San Diego, I really looked forward to every interaction we had. At family gatherings I gravitated towards you because of your caring, funny, gracious, infectious personality. You always shot me little notes on occasions like my own anniversary. Always unexpected, but appreciated. I have to say I was even more impressed by your life after reading about you after your passing. Again, you will be missed greatly my friend. May you rest in peace knowing you made the world a better place than you found it. Your freind, Jim Gordon

John was a wonderful gentleman
He was a grounded individual with broad knowledge about anything outdoors and a gift for "gab" at family events.
We will think of him fondly and often while in the good company that we kept with John.
John will always be part of the conversation when we are remembering the good company that passed before him.
Rest in Peace.

It was always a pleasure to chat with John when visiting at Linda and Tom's house. He will be missed.

I will miss calling him and talking to him. His laid back personality and his calmness. I liked fishing and hunting dove with John. When he laughed it would light up the whole world. Very cool fellow. I will always remember the time John, Ashley and myself hammered the trout at Glass and Deadmans Creek.
