Carlton Junior Obituary

Carlton "Les" Arndt Junior 87 of Winfield Maryland died surrounded by his Loving family at Carroll hospital on Saturday February 1st, 2025. He was the devoted husband to his wife Cindy Arndt, with whom he was married to for 65 years this past June. Born May 10, 1937, in Baltimore Maryland, he was the son of the late Carlton Arndt Senior, late Evelyn La Rue Lindsay, and surviving brothers Wayne Arndt and Lee Arndt. Surviving in addition to his wife, Cindy, was son Michael Arndt and wife Sharon, daughter Amy Knisley and husband Scott, grandsons Taylor Knisley, Douglas Arndt, and Johnathan Arndt. Les was a graduate of Milford Mill High School class of 1956. He previously had worked at Noxell and Maryland Cup, but his true passion was when he opened up his own company, Winfield Welding and Repair. Les served 9 1/2 years in the Maryland National Guard, as well as serving in the Civil Air Patrol. Les was active in the Freedom Optimist Club of Sykesville, MD, along with the Lions Club, where he held several positions, including president of the Taylorsville Winfield chapter. During his retirement, Les enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends on the eastern shore at Beach Harbor. He enjoyed taking his dog, Bailey, on golf cart rides, and he loved sitting on his front porch talking to neighbors. Throughout his life, Les has impacted many people, and he was always there to lend a helping hand. There was never a problem that he could not fix, or a challenge he wouldn't take on. Les will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his legacy will live on through all that knew him. We will always carry his memory in our hearts. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. 1212 West Old Liberty Road Sykesville, MD 21784 (beside South Carroll High School), where funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11 AM Interment at Oakland Cemetery In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Tails of Hope Animal Rescue in Mt. Airy, Maryland. Online condolences at www.Burrier-Queen.com.

Cindy, I am so sorry for your loss. I have known the Arndt's for many years, Lee the most because we went to grade school and high school together. I knew Wayne & Beverly from living here in Delaware but Les was the best known since he married and old high school mate, Cindy Greenwalt. I considered Les a good friend and always looked forward to seeing him & Cindy at old class reunions. He was a good guy and will be missed by all that knew him and loved him. Rest in Peace old friend !
