Carolyn Morningstar

Carolyn Marie Hamp Morningstar, 91, of Taneytown, MD, died peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster. Born December 29, 1924 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (McGee) Hamp. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Morningstar. Carolyn was first and foremost a homemaker. She also cooked at various local restaurants throughout the years. She enjoyed camping, cooking, picnics, holiday gatherings, and spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren. She is survived by 8 children, Helen Hawk and husband Fred, Kenny Morningstar and wife Elaine, Joe Morningstar and wife Bonnie, all of Taneytown, Susan Morrison and husband Pie, of Mulberry, FL, Bill Morningstar and wife Diane of Littlestown, PA, Frances Tippett of LaPlata, MD, Carolyn Walker and husband Paul of Gettysburg, PA, and Kathy Greene and husband David of New Windsor; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, James Morningstar; daughter, Patricia Smith; 2 brothers, William and Bud Hamp; sister, Ellen Andrews; and granddaughter, Helen Tippett. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, with Chaplain Charline Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Grace U.C.C. Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
