Clara Elaine Brown, 84, a resident of Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center from medical complications. She was born on January 29, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA to parents Walter H. Traubel, Sr. and Marion Shelly Traubel. Elaine grew up in Philadelphia and attended the Mennonite Church in Philadelphia. Soon after she graduated from high school, Elaine married Donald Brown in 1959. Together they have four children, whom they raised in the Baltimore, Maryland area. Elaine was a member of Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church in Columbia, where she led a teen youth group for several years, and also a member of the Mt. She was an elder and deacon in her churches and treasurer of the Howard County Christian Women's Club. She loved singing and was an active choir member in all her churches and in her senior community. Elaine enjoyed serving others which was evident at Carroll Lutheran Village with participation in various church programs and outreach. In her churches, she made quilts, robes, and stuffed animals for those in need, and also visited church members, the sick, and elderly. She also liked crafting, sewing, and traveling throughout the US and Europe. She was especially proud of her four children earning degrees in various disciplines ranging from Bachelor's through Ph.D. Elaine always had a smile and joyous greeting for her many grandchildren, whom she loved seeing and spending time with. Elaine is survived by her children (and their spouses): Sean and Cynthia Brown of Highland, MD; Scott and Paige Brown of Eldersburg, MD; Shari and Douglas Burg of Parker, CO; and Seth and Kimberly Brown of Cedar Falls, IA; her nine grandchildren: Hailey, Hannah, Kyle, Kelly, Zachary, Lauren, William, Torin, and Aurora; and one great grandchild, Luke.
