Dixie Lee Hughes, 79, of Hampstead, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at her home Born October 12, 1941 in Hampstead, she was the daughter of the late Charles Andrew Close and Ruth Elizabeth (Harris) Close. She was the wife of the late Edward Eugene Hughes, who died in 2019. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Hughes had been the co-owner along with her late husband of Hughes Trash Removal, Inc. She was a member of the Shenandoah Paint Horse Club. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Michael and Edith Hughes, Charles and Sandy Hughes, and Sandra Hughes and Jeff Taylor, all of Hampstead; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Aaron Albaugh. The family will receive friends Friday, September 24, 2021, from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg.
