Donald Lowe Obituary

Donald Kenneth Lowe, 83, of Oak Ridge, North Carolina died peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 30th, 2022. Don was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan on March 15th, 1939. He graduated from Coloma High School in 1957 and was a 1959 graduate of Benton Harbor Community College. He married Gillian Maureen Lowe April 15, 1968 in Otley, England. Don enlisted in the Army in February 1962 and was deployed to Turkey in 1963. He was honorably discharged in 1965 and worked at the US Menwith Hill Military Base in Harrogate, England from July 1966 to August 1983 when he relocated with his family to Westminster, Maryland. In December 1997, Don retired from the National Security Agency after 31 years of federal service and moved to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. In 2017 he relocated to Oak Ridge, North Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Gillian "Jill" Lowe, three children Michael Lowe (wife Nanette), Helen Fischer (husband Matt), and Alison McLaughlin (husband Alan), and seven grandchildren Maari, Tori, Sophie, Sarah, Catelyn, Danielle, and Beckett and his beloved dog Scout. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Helen Elizabeth and Walter Earl Lowe, his brother Richard Arthur Lowe, and his sister Helen "Babe" Marie Hilliard. Funeral Service will be held, July 21st 2022, 2pm St. Andrew's Episcopal Church 2105 W Market St, Greensboro, NC 27403. Celebration of life to be held in Westminster, Maryland.
