Donald Yelton Obituary

Donald Yelton, age 81, of Dagsboro, DE formerly of Sykesville, MD passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD. Don was born in Millers, MD on February 1, 1943 son of the late Claude Yelton and Tessie (Honeycutt) Yelton. He graduated from Sykesville High School then served his country in the United States Navy. Don retired from Western Electric / AT&T Technologies, Inc. after 35 years. Don will be remembered as a jack-of-all trades and could teach himself to fix almost anything. Don was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing, and was currently teaching himself how to play the guitar. He was a member of St. Matthews By the Sea United Methodist Church and will be remembered as a great storyteller and had an amazing sense of humor and was always willing to tell a joke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Stephen Bravo and a sister, Charlotte Glover. Don is survived by his loving wife of almost 45 years, Wendy (Bidinger) Yelton; a daughter, Dominique Lee Sampedro; a stepdaughter, Christina McCormick and two grandchildren, Kevin McCormick and James Andrew Sampedro; and a stepsister, JoAnn Robbins. Services and burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Don's name to The Salvation Army/Seaford Corps by visiting www.salvationarmyusa.org or Delmarva Teen Challenge by visiting www.delmarvateenchallenge.org.
