Douglas Reifsnider Obituary

It is with great sadness I announce the passing of Douglas E. Reifsnider of Keymar, MD. Born May 22, 1955 in Gettysburg, PA, Doug joined God in heaven on November 15, 2023 after suffering a stroke and then a heart attack at Frederick Health in Frederick, MD. Doug was a man who was always busy and you would see him moving quickly from one task to the next as he didn't like to waste time. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when asked. We often joked about him working for food, because that was his usual pay for the help provided. Doug was a life-long member of Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown, MD, where he also helped with repairs and maintenance occasionally. Doug was a caring man who loved his family, farming and Ford Tractors. He was a dairy farmer from early childhood until 2013 when he transitioned to crop farming. He loved the family farm on Sharrett Rd., which he had hoped to own whenever his mother and siblings decided to sell. Doug also enjoyed collecting farm toys, memorabilia, and literature. Doug was a huge fan of McDonald's ice cream and breakfast. He went almost every Wednesday and Sunday evenings for supper and ice cream. Breakfast would be an outing with his buddies, Paul, Sonny, Wilbur and Melvin, a few times a month. He was even known by name, thanks to that App. Doug leaves his wife of 49 years, Cynthia (Cindy) D. Poole Reifsnider, son Clinton E. Reifsnider and wife Laura Jane, daughter Lara Beth Reifsnider Stambaugh and husband Christopher; 5 beautiful granddaughters, Kaitlin Stambaugh, Grace Stambaugh, Kayla Reifsnider, Isabella Reifsnider and Emma Reifsnider; his mother Georgette Reifsnider; sister Shiela Robertson and husband Tom, brother Wayne Reifsnider and faithful partner Cathy Gesell; special aunt Eva Ashbaugh, special cousins, who were more like brothers, Jeff and Jim Ashbaugh, special friends and in-laws Nancy and Ken Huyser and Carol and Dan Leister; many nieces, nephews, cousins and our dog, Cash. Doug was predeceased by his father, Glenn W. Reifsnider and uncles Roger K. Reifsnider and George Ashbaugh. A visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 20 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, MD. His funeral service will be held at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Steven Ostendorf will officiate. Interment will follow in Grace UCC Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Grace United Church of Christ in Taneytown, or in his name/memory to a charity of your choice. Leave a message or memory on his "tribute wall" at www.hartzlerfuneralhome.com.

So sorry to hear of Doug's sudden passing. He was always such a kind gentleman when I would come up to buy hay. Doug was especially helpful to an old lady who is not-so-good at backing up her hay trailer! Condolences to hi wife, children, and grandchildren. He will truly be missed.

Jim and I are heartbroken. Doug was the kindest man . He always would answer our calls for hay or anything. I would call he said,Hey sherry, hey Doug you around for hay yes, sharret road or Clints he would say! Cash would bark for treats I bought him.. He was always working. Clint and Doug always were 1st up to help.

Kindest family ever. We already miss you and, you leave behind a lot of fond happy memories. We all loved you Doug.

We are glad to have had you in our life. We will continue with Clint and bring treats to Cash .
