Geraldine Deckert

Geraldine "Gerry" Orpha Deckert, age 94, of New Windsor, died Friday, February 21, 2025. Born January 22, 1931 in Portland, OR as the daughter of the late Thomas Gerald Lennard and Orpha Elizabeth Barney Lennard. She was predeceased by her husband August "Gus" Deckert. They celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2020. Gerry was a homemaker, and in later years a farmer. She spent her time over the years painting, gardening, cooking and baking her wonderful pies and cookies. In her earlier years she was a member of the League of Women Voters and in her later years was a member of the Mt. Airy Garden Club. Surviving are children (and spouses), Glenn (Patricia) Deckert, Gail Deckert, Guy Deckert, Gwyn Webb, Grant (Susan) Deckert and Gregg Deckert; daughter-in-law, Barbara Deckert; sister-in-law Carolyn Lennard; sixteen grandchildren, Kathryn Deckert, Boyd Webb, Sarah Deckert, Brian Deckert (Anton), Tiffany Webb (Kris Sankar), Claire Reinken (Steve), Heather Deckert (David Lam), Elizabeth Deckert, Christopher Davis, Alexandra Deckert, Sandra Webb, Grant Deckert II, Brooke Deckert (Alan Pysnack), Justin Deckert, Travis Deckert and Holly Deckert; eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son Gerald Deckert, brother William Thomas Lennard, great-grandson Hank Webb and son-in-law Hyter Webb, Jr. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Bethel Cemetery, Hooper Rd., New Windsor. Fellowship to follow.
