Gilbert Dettmer Obituary
Gilbert S. Dettmer Sr., 83 of Reisterstown, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown.
Born Sept. 9, 1930, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Gilbert T. and Mae Elizabeth Daniels Dettmer. He was the husband of Margaret Griffin Dettmer.
He was a retired Sergeant 1st Class with 110th F.A. Service Battery at Pikesville Armory.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law Michael and Dana Dettmer, of Reisterstown; daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Tom Tringali, of Woodstock, and Theresa and Eric Greenberg, of Reisterstown; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Vernon Dettmer; a sister, Ramona Mohan, of Pikesville; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Gilbert "Bert" Dettmer Jr.; a daughter, Phyllis Marie Dettmer; and a sister, Julanne Hush Blizzard.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Lacey officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093; or to the 29th Division Association, c/o Pikesville Military Reservation, 610 Reisterstown Road, Baltimore, MD 21208.
