Ivy Connolly Obituary



Ivy Leigh Connolly, 84, of Sykesville, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at home.

Born March 26, 1929, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Thomas Edward and Mary Lyda McCarrier Connolly. He was the husband of Gale Connolly.

He was a veteran of the Navy.

He enjoyed time with his grandchildren, and he especially liked going to Ocean City in the summer and jumping waves with his grandchildren every year. He enjoyed reading Western novels and watching old movies.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons and daughters-in-law Ivy and Kim Connolly, of Oak Harbor, Wash., Steven Reed, of El Paso, Texas, and Ernie and Jamie Miles, of Sykesville; daughters and sons-in-law Lisa Miles, of Westminster, Linda and Bill Pfeifer, of Catonsville, Cathie and Bruce Myers, of Sykesville, and Marian Poggie, of Manchester; a brother, Paul Connolly, of Joppa; a brother-in-law, Stanley Ekovich, of Randallstown; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his siblings James and Sterling Connolly, Violet Nicholson, Bereneice Ekovich, and Barbara Reuwer.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Monday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Baltimore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
