James Kave Obituary

James "Jim" Oscar Kave, 80, of Westminster, died Friday, August 11, 2023 at the Dove House, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Born August 7, 1943 in Winchester, VA, he was the son of the late Oscar Myers Kave and Mary Riley Kave. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Faye Kave. He graduated from Clarke County High School in 1961 and received a B.S. Degree from Tusculum College in Greenville, TN. Jim was a devoted family man, and over the years donated countless hours to others less fortunate than himself. He enjoyed being an administrator at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab for over 40 years. He was a member of Crosswind Church and loved to travel with Faye throughout the eastern and midwestern states to attend Southern Gospel music concerts. Jim took great pleasure in helping others through volunteer work, and was a long-time member of the Deer Park Lions Club. He also enjoyed attending his daughters' and grandchildren's sporting events and activities whenever he could. His grandchildren will certainly miss their 'Poppy', who always made them feel like they were the center of his world. He will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew him. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Stacy Meeboer (Tom) of Bettendorf, IA, and Tonia Cranston (Tim) of Stewartstown, PA, one brother Dennis Kave (Bev) of Berryville, VA, one sister Allison Crosby of Winchester, VA, and grandchildren: Matthew, Micah, Maryl, Everett, Jake and Maxx. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Crosswind Church, 640 Lucabaugh Mill Rd, Westminster, MD 21157 with his pastor Reverend Chris Kaskel officiating. Interment will be at Pipe Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the University of Maryland Greenbaum Cancer Center 22 S. Green St., Baltimore, MD 21201. Arrangements by Fletcher Funeral and Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, MD 21157.

Jim was my great friend at Tusculum College. We had some good times doing some crazy things and I will remember our chats as we discussed books we read and shows to watch on tv. A great roommate at TC and he is missed!!
