Jean Reid Fisher, 93, of Crisfield, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Chesapeake Cove Assisted Living. Born on April 8, 1932 in Baltimore, she was raised in Thurmont, MD and was the daughter of the late Dallas and Katherine Gaither Reid. Her husband of 66 years, Lynn Victor Fisher, preceded her in death on November 16, 2016. She had been making her home in Crisfield for the past 40 years. Jean was a graduate of Thurmont High School and obtained her Bachelor and Masters Degrees from Western Maryland College (currently McDaniel). She was a home economics teacher for almost 30 years at Franklin Jr. High School in Reisterstown. Active in her community, Jean was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield, Crisfield Elks Lodge #1044 Ladies Auxiliary, and Door to Virtue Order of the Eastern Star in Westminster. She was also a Charter Member of the Crisfield Lioness Lions Club where she served in many capacities including President, Historian, Communications Chairman, Board of Directors, chairman for many years of the Virginia Puffinburger Memorial Scholarship Committee, and volunteered at fundraisers including Soft Shell Festival and the Glenn Ward Memorial Softball Tournament. In 2016, Jean was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the highest honor that can be bestowed to any Lions member. Jean was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed camping, bicycling, and sailing as First Mate of the good ship "The Blues Chaser". She was also an excellent cook. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Eve Fisher of New Windsor, MD and Steve and Cynthia "Cindy" Fisher of Long Beach Island, NJ; her brother, Robert Reid and wife Bonnie of Thurmont, MD; three grandchildren, Elisza Fisher of Westminster, Rebecca "Becky" Fisher Dykstra and husband Karl of Salem, MA, and Antoinette "Nancy" Fisher and husband Brendan Pronteau of Morton, PA; two great-grandchildren, Wren and Sawyer Dykstra of Salem, MA; two nephews, Mike and Rob Reid of Frederick, MD; and several great nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 at 2 PM at Immanuel U. M. Church Fellowship Hall. Pastor Jim Riley will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to
a favorite charity of choice.
