Jimmie Reed Obituary

Jimmie R. Reed, 71, of Sykesville, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Carroll Hospice's Dove House.

Born Aug. 21, 1940, in North Carolina, he was the son of Melba Jane Sluder Reed and the late Claude Reed. He was the husband of Sherry Ann Stoneking Reed.

He had worked in maintenance at Northwest Hospital Center for many years. He enjoyed flower gardening, woodworking, making clocks, furniture and stained glass.

Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are sons Daryl Lee Reed and Larry Kevin Reed, both of Sykesville; a sister, Nina Mae Gwyn; and grandchildren Crystal Lynn Reed and Darren Scott Reed.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Heavey officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
