Barbara and family. John was perhaps my greatest mentor in my life. Not in insurance so much, but life and doing the right thing. He once told me, " if you do the right thing, the rest will take care of itself." It was not that I was wandering, but for some reason it came up. I know he was a spiritual man, church every morning early before work at Laytons. And he was the last to leave when the lights were being turned out. Yet from my perception a great family life. Always doing the right thing. When I was at laytons, a mere three years or so, he was the pillar for all. And I expect that was always so, though understated. He was quiet, diligent and the best there was. As a professional, and I am in the business now for nearly 40 years, he represented the smartest and the best of our profession. I will never forget the night I delivered Bentley and he broke the lamp. I cried when I left and still think of that dog and what a wonderful family he ended up with. I am very sorry to hear about John. He was truly a great man. But you all know that already.
