Kathryn Baker Obituary

Kathryn Wilhide "Kit" Baker, 74, of Westminster, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson.

Born April 4, 1937, in Weehawken, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Clara Duhne Vanderbach. She was the wife of John A. "J.B." Baker, whom she married June 28, 1998.

She was a graduate of Montclair State, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education. She was a retired florist.

She was a member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Pleasant Valley and the Pleasant Valley volunteer fire company's Ladies Auxiliary. She also had been a member of the Soroptomist Club and Women's Club of Catonsville.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children Debra Wilhide Meyers, of Sykesville, John F. Wilhide and wife Erica F., of Baltimore, and Kristen L. Rudolph and husband Michael D., of Towson; stepchildren Janice L. Maisel, of Sykesville, Jack E. Baker and wife Brenda, of Finksburg, and Michelle C. Robertson, of Littlestown, Pa.; a brother, Harry W. Vanderbach and wife Marysusan, of Raleigh, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with her pastor, the Rev. Dale Krotee officiating. Interment will be in Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Shipley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Gilchrist Hospice Care, 11311 McCormick Road, Suite 350, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
