Kenneth Merkel Obituary

Kenneth Brian Merkel, 69, of Hampstead, Maryland passed away suddenly on August 27th, 2023. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Stephen J. Merkel and Virginia M. Merkel, born on September 15th, 1953. Ken, also known as 'Kenny' or 'Merk', was the loving husband of Virginia 'Ginna' Merkel, his wife of 34 years. He was a very proud father of his two children, Scott Brian Merkel and Lindsey Rae Merkel, and a loving 'pop' to his grandson, Maverick Brian Merkel. Ken made an impression on every person he met, whether it was the cashier at a store or a long time friend. He lived his life to make others laugh, to put a smile on someone's face, and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Ken had a passion for sports - he loved to watch his children's games, play golf with his son and friends, and watch the O's and Raven's games. In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by his son, Scott Brian Merkel and wife Chelsea of Glen Burnie, MD; daughter, Lindsey Rae Merkel of Windsor, CO; grandson, Maverick Brian Merkel; brother, Wayne Merkel and wife Beverly of Westminster, MD; and sister, Joyce Thompson and husband Walter of Westminster, MD and many nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his son Stephen John Merkel. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home, Hampstead, MD. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, 11:00 am at the Eline Funeral Home Hampstead, with Pastor Fred Sipes officiating. Flowers to the family may be sent to the Eline Funeral Home, Hampstead for visitation and service: 934 S. Main St. Hampstead, MD 21074.
