L. Kathleen Walkling

L. Kathleen Walkling, 86, of Westminster, died Saturday, May 13, 2023, at FutureCare Cherrywood of Reisterstown. Born January 8, 1937 in Smallwood, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edna Freyman Smith and Chester Smith. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest "Bud" Walkling. She retired after working 32 years for Random House. She was a member at Zion United Methodist Church and enjoyed NASCAR and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by sons Randy C. Walkling of Finksburg, Ralph E. Walkling and wife MissC Raver of Hanover, Pa., 6 grandchildren Richie Walkling and wife Carleen of Pasadena, Jen Walkling of Westminster, Cody Walkling of Littlestown, Pa., Jessica Walkling of Finksburg, Chad Walkling of Finksburg, Lindsey Walkling of Littlestown, Pa., 4 great-grandchildren A.J. Walkling, Braelyn, Wyatt and Colton Walkling, brothers Neal Smith and wife Phyllis of Westminster; Lee Barksdale and wife Amy of Littlestown, PA; sister Sandy Crumbacker and husband Charles "Mouse" of Taneytown and daughter-in-law Teresa Groft Walkling. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons Ray Allen Walkling and R. Charles Walkling, a brother Ralph C. Smith and sister Marlene Drechsler. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Deer Park Cemetery in Smallwood.
