Leta Derasse Obituary

Leta Jean Derasse, 63, of Westminster, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at her home. Born August 14, 1957 in Baltimore she was the daughter of the late Charles and Alta (Carper) Thornton. Leta was a graduate of Catonsville Community College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. She was employed as a Nursing Supervisor at Homewood at Plum Creek, where she worked for 10 years. Leta enjoyed playing music and hosting bon fires. She had a captivating laugh and loved to entertain and visit with friends. She was a kind and caring person and above all loved her family. Surviving her are sons and daughters-in-law Adam Craig Barnett and Kelly, and Steven Brandon Barnett and Brittney all of Westminster; grandchildren Natalie, Alexander, Madison; sister Diane Nethen of Hanover, PA; sister-in-law Carol Thornton of Manchester; nieces Hayley Beirne and Laura Hughes; nephews Corey Nethen and Charlie Thornton; and former spouse Francois Pierre Derasse of Westminster. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Robert Clark Thornton. The family will welcome friends on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 4 to 5pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, with a memorial service beginning at 5pm.
