As a child, one of my favorite places to go was Uncle Bill and Aunt Tootsies house for family picnics. The gatherings were full of smiles, warm hugs and delicious food. But my favorite part was the time I spent with Uncle Bill. He would take time to talk to me. He would spot me on the balance beam and teach me tricks on the trampoline. He gave eye contact and clear instruction followed by encouragement and commendation. Thats the perfect recipe for a child to feel seen, heard and loved. Children never forget when someone makes them feel that way.
I will always treasure my memories of Uncle Bill and those wonderful picnics. He was a wonderful man in so many ways. It was a privilege to have him in my life.

Mr. Bruce was always very good to me. I was always the big fat boy who was never any good in physical education. He always supported me to be the best that I could do. When I joined the track and field team as a shot putter, he actually gave me an "A" on my report card. Rest in peace, sir.
