Maryellen A. McDonnell

Maryellen Adela McDonnell, 67, of Hampstead, MD passed away Friday, September 26, 2025 at the BridgingLife Hospice Dove House in Westminster, MD. Born April 5, 1958 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Theodore Schultz and Marion Susan (née Svajlenka) Schultz. She was the wife of the late Rian Patrick McDonnell, who died in 2019. Mrs. McDonnell earned her bachelor degree in education from Towson State University. Prior to retirement, she was a first grade teacher for both Carroll County Public Schools and Immaculate Conception School. She was a communicant of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster, MD. She enjoyed cross stitch, reading, cooking and murder mystery shows, Downton Abbey, their dogs, and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are her son, Justin McDonnell of Hampstead; daughter and son-in-law, Adela McDonnell Snider and Ryan Snider of Walkersville, MD; granddaughter, Riley Snider; grandson, Alexander Snider; brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony and Patricia Schultz, Leonard Shultz, Jr. and Jeanne Schultz, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Alanna and Robert Reed; nieces, Lauren Schultz Ciprian and husband Timothy, Rachel Soto and husband Louis, Stephanie Schultz, and Melissa Gagermeier; nephews, Jason Gagermeier and Connor Smith; great-nieces, Antonella Soto, Julianna Ciprian, and Rosalie Ciprian; and great-nephews, Santino Soto and Matteo Soto. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead.
