Michael Jenkins Obituary



Michael Alan Jenkins, 31, of Harrisburg, Pa., died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at home.

Born Nov. 3, 1982, in Baltimore, he was the son of Alan Francis and Debra Ann Aleshire Jenkins, of Taylorsville. He was the husband of Keri Sue Jenkins.

He was a 2000 graduate of South Carroll High School, where he played basketball, lacrosse and football. He earned a Division I college football scholarship. He earned his master's degree from James Madison University, where he played football and helped the team win a national championship.

He was a professional strongman and won the Arnold Classic in 2012. He was a three-time World's Strongest Man finalist and holds several world records. He co-owned and operated CrossFit Gamma Gym in Hershey, Pa.

Beyond his athletic accomplishments, he especially enjoyed helping others and spending time with his dog, Lexi.

Surviving, in addition to his parents and wife, are a brother, Nicholas Stewart Jenkins, of Taylorsville; a mother-in-law, Susan Wells, of Hummelstown, Pa.; aunts Marie Denise Aleshire-Dyson, of Eldersburg, and Cathy Hall, of Reisterstown; an uncle, Joseph Michael Aleshire, of Hampstead; a grandmother, Adelaide Aleshire, of Marriottsville; and a sister-in-law, Mollie Ricker, of Hummelstown.

He was predeceased by grandparents Edward Stewart Aleshire Jr., and Charles and Helen Jenkins; and uncles Edward Stewart Aleshire III and Charles Jenkins.

Friends may call from noon until the time of service, 7 p.m. Saturday, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with the Rev. James McGovern officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
