Richard Coppersmith Obituary

Richard Lee Coppersmith, 87, of Westminster, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Bethania Assisted Living in Westminster. Born March 13, 1937, in Hampstead, he was the son of the late John Robert and Leona Columbia (Hensley) Coppersmith. He was the cherished husband of Dotty Erma Zile Coppersmith, his wife of 68 years. Richard was a graduate of Hampstead High School, Class of 1955. He spent most of his working career as an insurance inspector working for Equifax for over 32 years. Richard enjoyed going to auctions, antiquing, and was the owner of Derby Antiques in Reisterstown for 35 years. He loved fishing, crabbing, and taking family vacations each year to Manns Harbor in North Carolina. He will be deeply missed. Surviving in addition to his wife are children Mark A. Coppersmith and wife Gail of Westminster, Terri L. Sies and husband Neil of Lititz, PA., and Craig S. Coppersmith and partner Cathy of Westminster; grandchildren Katie, Jennifer, Sarah, Matthew, Ashley, and Brittany; great grandchildren Isabel, Amelia, Jane, Keegan, Cameron, Carter, Adley, Brooks, Callie, Conner, Skyler, Kylie; sisters Shirley Boczek and husband Lothar of Hanover, PA., and Virginia Gesell of Manchester. He was preceded in death by brother Russell Hensley. Services and interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made is his name to St. Matthew's UCC Pleasant Valley, 1427 Pleasant Valley Road, Westminster, MD 21158.

I used to work with Richard for Equifax when the office was on the second of the movie theatre which is now the Carroll Arts Center, year was 1982-1983.
He was a wonderful boss and co-worker. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for peace and comfort for the family
